The truth about massage
Many people these days have the same idea about massage at a spa or salon. When asked, they often say it’s a luxury or I don’t have money for that kind of thing. Well I tend to disagree on the thought of it being a luxury. Think, right now, about how high your stress levels are. Medium? High? About to burn out? Personally, my own levels are through the roof.
Okay, so you agreed your levels are medium to high. So what does stress do to the body? It can cause physical tension in the muscles, headaches and can lead to other diseases like high blood pressure and heart disease. The effects on the mind include depression, forgetfulness and anxiety… sound familiar? According to bebrainfit.com, stress creates free radicals that kill brain cells. So overall stress can have a huge negative impact on your life.
So why do beauty therapists believe massage is the answer? Because of all the benefits that it provides. Firstly, massage eases muscular pain and tension by increasing the circulation to the muscles and releasing lactic acid that causes stiffness. The touch of our professional hands induce relaxation and our good listening skills help to reduce anxiety and leave the client feeling uplifted after the treatment. Their are many other benefits of massage including reducing blood pressure, improving sleep and headaches. Therefore massage can help counteract many of the factors caused by stress. So instead of popping pills, massage is another option to help improve your current lifestyle and reduce stress.
Massage a luxury? I think not…At Kemayu Spa in Assagay, Hillcrest, we believe that massage is a necessity. Massage treatments are essential for relaxation and de-stressing our busy lifestyles and for health and well being in the body and mind.
